FAQ

What are your hours?
My office hours are Monday – Saturday, typically 9 am-9 pm, depending on the current caseload’s preferred times. I’m generally flexible to meet your needs.
Do you take insurance?
We offer a free consultation (see form below at the end of this page) – it’s a great chance to get to know each other a bit, share a little more about what has been going on with you, and make sure we feel like a good fit to you.

We accept several insurances that include:
TriWest
Aetna
Anthem BCBS
Bright Health

If you have one of these insurances, ask us about getting services covered:
Cigna
Foster Source
Justice Reskill
Friday
United/ Optum
Apostrophe

If you have an insurance that is not listed above, we are considered Out-of -Network. We would be happy to provide you with a Superbill receipt to submit to your insurance if you have any out-of-network benefits or if you have a health savings account you would like to use. We also take credit cards. Again, the initial consultation is free.

What is a "superbill?"
I can provide you with a monthly Superbill receipt after your payment is processed. The Superbill will have all the codes on it that your insurance company will need. Give them a quick call to ask what percentage they REIMBURSE (not cover!) for out-of-network counseling benefits. Also, ask them where you can forward your Superbill receipt to obtain that reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you are a “no-show” or have a late cancellation (less than 24 hours), I will charge you 75% of the service fee. Following a missed appointment, I may require you to pay this fee before scheduling another appointment with the therapist.
What are your payment methods?
We accept all major credit cards for payment, but you will receive a 3% service fee for credit or debit card transactions. This is the fee charged for merchant services. Payment is due on the date of service without exception.
With what age ranges do you work?
Although I can work with women of all ages, my specialty is women 30-60 years old.
Although you specialize specifically in women's issues, will you work with a male or transgender client?
Yes, I certainly will not discriminate based on gender; however, please know that I am not specifically trained in male issues or LGBTQ+, so I may not be the best fit for you. But you never know; call me and find out!
What modalities do you use in your client work?

I use a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused (SF) modalities. I’ll try to provide a summary of what all that therapy mumbo-jumbo means!

CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and developing personal coping strategies targeting current problems.

MI is a directive, client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavior change by helping clients to explore and resolve ambivalence.

SF therapy sessions typically focus on the present and future and the past only to the degree necessary for communicating empathy and accurate understanding of the client’s concerns.

I will listen to your desires for what you want out of therapy and use the most appropriate treatment modalities to help you get to where you want to be in life.

Do I have to live in Colorado?
To be seen for more therapeutic services, such as individual counseling, you need to live in Colorado because Colorado is the State I am licensed in or I can provide online teletherapy services to you if you live in Florida. I may be seeking licensure in other states in the future. However, for Coaching sessions, I can offer to coach anywhere in the United States!
What is the difference between Counseling and Coaching?

A counselor (or therapist) has a minimum of a master’s degree, and a licensed counselor has a minimum of two years experience post-graduate program. A coach typically has some training on specific topics and likely some “lived experience,” but they are not licensed. The coaching industry is not regulated, so anyone can claim to be a coach.

A coach will typically work with someone for shorter periods of time, whereas a counselor will usually work with someone for more extended periods. Coaches are very future-oriented and outcomes-based, whereas counselors focus on the past and resolve and heal past traumas.

What sets IRIS Wellness Consultants apart is that I utilize both counseling and a coaching approach. I will work with you to set and achieve your goals, overcome personal challenges, and improve your overall wellness. I do this with the expertise of a counseling background, which helps me understand that your past can cause you to have blockages that limit beliefs, causing you to be “stuck.” I help you resolve those beliefs and heal while maintaining the future goal of being the best version of yourself!!

If I hear snoring in the background, are you getting bored with me?
No!! I have a French Bulldog attached to me most of the time, and he snores loudly! When I was in a senior leadership meeting on ZOOM, my mute button was live. My CEO texted me and asked if that was my dog or me snoring!! Luckily, she had experience with Frenchies and knew they are loud snorers! When in sessions, I try to keep him at my feet instead of beside me to reduce the noise!
When you aren't working, what do you do for fun?
When I’m not working, you can usually find me on the back of a motorcycle, sitting in a lawn chair at a nearby lake with my RV, or watching Florida State Seminoles football. I love to travel and look forward to doing more of it in the future!
Since you do online therapy, is there ever a possibility to meet in person for one-to-one sessions?
The primary platform for these services is online. However, if there was a desire to meet in public, say at a park and do “Walk Therapy,” I am not opposed. We could make arrangements that meet both of our needs.
